Finals begin on Friday.
I haven't done as well on my midterms as I have hoped. So definately I have to do well on my finals. I kinda slacked off the past two days though. I wanted to just relax. I am going to really study tomorrow. My first exam is on Friday. It's the AI course. It is such a hard course! I don't think that I will be pursuing the AI field anymore. I have no idea what the prof is talking about. But it was a somewhat fun course. On the last day we had the Great Wolfman Shearing! You can watch it here on youtube: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=49TmxNPhXnw Yeah our prof is not a rational agent. lol
Had some weird dreams again. But not as weird as the floating fetuses...One about a dragon and its rider and one was about these creatures that had the job of protecting mankind from some other creatures but they were not liked at all. Then there was some pokemon-like creatures and there was a revolt because people were being nasty to the protectors...Ok that makes no sense at all to who ever is reading this.
I've been playing Gaia a lot too. It is all Mei's fault! She started playing and now I'm addicted! And I'm eating a lot of jellybeans. Coffee jelly beans...mmmm.
Sleeptime. Finals begin on Friday.

Overwhelmed
Co-op jobs are closing everyday and I don't have the time to write cover letters not to mention that my cover letters and resume sucks. I don't know why I was ever in English enriched since I apparently have no idea how to write at all. It is amazing that I ever passed English in highschool. Yesterday I went to the library and borrowed some resume/cover letter writing books. Hopefully I will learn something from them.
Some courses it is not my fault that I am behind since the bloody textbooks have not even arrived yet. How am I suppose to keep up with the reading when there is no textbook to read? The UBC bookstore should get their act together. They should have all the books available at the start of the term!
I'm wondering how I will ever be able to get through this term!

The End of Summer

The pictures are doodled with pen on the back of a stack of playland ride passports at the PNE. The dragon was the first one drawn then the tiger the next day.
LOL. My captain saw the tiger and said it was cute. whoops.
I got my employee evaluation today. It said I am suitable for rehire. Heheh. That I am very polite and have a great attitude. =D
Tomorrow is my last day. I'm relief. Just like the first day. So it all comes round in a circle. Karen is going to go and see all the shows. And we're going to eat our last candy apple from the market place this year.
The day after school will start and I shall have to start applying to co-op jobs. Hopefully I will get hired. Another summer has gone and another school year is starting. Time flies by so fast. It really does.

White minnow fry update

Not all of them survived. There were three that were deformed; their tails were on crooked so they couldn't swim properly. I named them Quasi, Modo, and Esmeralda. Sadly all of them perished, the last being Esmeralda. Oh well 'tis life.
So now there are only about 9-10 left. Still a lot. There also might be 4 others in the parent's tank. Sometimes I see them, sometimes I don't. I think I'm just going to leave them in there.

I have high hopes of the other 9 surviving. I bought actual fry food from the pet store...though the flake food I crushed myself seems to be finer than the power fry food. Still it is fresher and probably a more balanced diet for my babies so I'm not complaining about the price. It also smells really good. lol.
Also Axel moulted! At first I thought he had disinigrated but I looked closer and it was just is empty exoskeleton.

Axel is doing well. He is not starving as I had previously thought. Quite the opposite! He has plenty to eat and plenty to choose from! I have an unwanted algae bloom in the tank. Fuzz algae was introduced with the plants I bought. Then brown algae and green appeared and green dot algae! Oy. I think my lamp is too bright! And not in the right spectrum. It is too yellow. And I may be guilty of overfeeding...Time to do some water changes.

Babies and Work

I am SO EXCITED today! Why? Because my fish made BABIES! They probably laid the eggs a while ago but today I saw small fry swimming in the tank! So I scooped the five I saw out into another container. Just in case the parents might eat them. (I've read that they won't but why take the chance?)
When I can home from work I saw that there were more! I counted a least 13 fry! 8DDD I am so deliriously happy!!!!!! Yay!
I was making food for the fry during work. I was crushing flakes into fine powder.
I forgot to write about work...Well now I work for the PNE! I am a ticket seller and have been working for 4 days. It is my very first job ever! (Working for my uncle doesn't count.)

Open Water Diver

We had 5 confined pool dives at the UBC swimming pool previously and this weekend we finally went into the ocean! We went to Wytecliff park on Saturday and Copper Cove today. We saw lots of sea stars, fish, crabs and some sea cucumbers today.
But aww we wanted to go see the anemone wall! But the instructor that took us on the second dive of the day only spent 17 minutes with us! And we only worked on our skills. Dive #4 was supposed to be a sightseeing tour. We even changed our tanks because we told that they were going to take us down longer. :(
Anyways, diving is so fun!...in the water. Because what kills me is the getting into and especially OUT of the water. Once I fall down in the shallows there is no getting back up again. My legs are just too weak. LOL.
That picture is of Copper Cove where we dove today. We have to walk down a fight of stairs to get down there. And that means carrying HEAVY tanks up and down that. My biceps are definately bigger than when I started.
Even though I'm certified and can dive on my own now, I'll still dive with two other people: a buddy and someone to help me get out the water and carry my tank. HAHAHAH!

Aquarium update

So today I went and bought 3 more FEMALE white clouds. Heheh I said to the staff I want the fat ones. Heehee.
Yeah so he's still bullying but I think there is a female that is not afraid to bully him back so it's all cool...so far.
Heehee. Do you see the Axel, the shrimp on the log? He is SO CUTE! I love shrimp. He might be starving though because I don't have any algae yet. Gotta get him something to eat!

My 2 gallon Aquarium
I bought the tank at the end of July and have been adding things to it until now.

The Amano shrimp is so cute! I'll probably get another one. We'll see how well this one fares.
I am so excited this is my first aquarium that has REAL plants in

A funny story
These days I don't have a lot of time to remember dreams and record them. I am so busy this week! I started scubadiving lessons on Tuesday and have my second lesson is tonight. BUT I have a final tomorrow and another one on Saturday! Crazy! I haven't even started studying for Stats tomorrow. But we get a cheat sheet so hopefully by the time I finish making it I'll know enough to pass the final with a decent mark. And I have until 6pm tomorrow to cram in everything.
Heheh today was the last day of CPSC313 and I didn't really pay attention at all. I kindof drifted off and then started playing a story game with a group of friends. Hehehe. I got to keep the story 'cause Andrew was going to throw it away. Here is the story: (the colours respresent the different people who contributed to the story. The yellow colour is mine.)
Today was the worst day of his life. John had never done this before. In a freak computer science experiment, John was shrunk to the size of a hair follicle. Next he was transported into the armpits of his professor's armpits. John had never been in a smellier place in his life. It reaked of rotten eggs.
Then he really found some rotten eggs and started eating them until the smell went away. He was kind of stupid because then his socks started to smell so he ate his socks. Then a beautiful woman came in and John thought, "Wow. You smell nice."
She said, "Thanks jerk."
That was the last time he ever complimented a girl. He thought,"Right now all I wanna do is pee Oh god I wanna pee, so much!"
He felt hungry so he looked around for some food. He found a watermelon growing on his head so he plucked if off and ate it. But it was kind of moldy because he sweat so much all the bacteria from his head made the watermelon go bad. But since he was hungry, he ate it anyways.
What happened next was totally unexpected. His face in total agony as his stomach bubbled and his sides shook. Falling to his knees, his eyes turned blood red. He fell flat on the floor dead. And out of his ruptured stomach came the thing.
It was a baby chicken! All those rotten eggs turned into a chicken. So this chicken grew up and turned into a real boy. He was soo happy. He got up onto his two feet and gave the boy a candy.
The boy was so happy to find out that his dad actually cares for him. He started to like his dad and as the time passed he started daydreaming. He imagined that his dad was hopping about dancing! He burst out laughing so that his dad thought that he was crazy and ran away from him. He laughed so hard that all the overripe fruit growing on his head fell off. Nothing else to do but eat them. So he did.
And that was the end of that story.
Andrew closed the book to the greatest novel ever written. It was
definitely bestseller material.
With a satisfied sigh, he stood up and thought about the wonderful
use of time in his boring computer science course.
Heeheehee! It might not make a lot of sense because we weren't allowed to see what the other people wrote except for the last sentence.
Well that's all. I have to start studying for Stats now. In an hour I start my diving lesson. EEE!

Tamago
I guess I was probably just going to complain about my life and how I need to get off my lazy bum and DO SOMETHING. Whatever.
Heh. I started playing tamagochi again. So boring. But I want to make one of my own. Program one. Should I use Java or Flash? ...I was thinking on the bus today. tamago is egg in Japanese? And I don't know what 'chi' is but I'm guess little. Hahah. Cute. Tamago-chi. I never realized that.
List of things todo:
-GK website
-personal website
-learn PHP, SQL
-make Tamagochi-like program
-Flash actionscript
-Javascript

Hockey Losses
I had hoped they'd win. They went so far!
I found out about it in Stats today. Heheh. My prof was like "Albertans, you can't trust them. They say they're gonna do it but they don't." He's halarious! I really enjoy his class.

It was pretty fun actually and I don't regret it at all. But oy. My arm is sore. Especially my wrist. I am such a poor learner. :(
Oh! It's the sixth day of the sixth month of the sixth year! Freaky.

The Greater Vancouver Zoo
We were so lucky because when we went on the bus that took us to the wolf and bear habitat, it wasn't their feeding time so they didn't come out. But then the fence got stuck! And the wolves thought it was feeding time so they ran out! I took some pictures but I was inside the bus so it wasn't really good and I was running out of batteries also.
The hippo and the cheetah wasn't there though! Karen went last year and they told her that they'll be finished with rebuilding the hippo habitat this year but they haven't even started! >:( Next year they'd better be finished!
I think this time of year is the best to go because there were a lot of baby animals! Baby lemurs, bison (born just yesterday), wallabee, birds. They are all so cute!!! I wish I'd gotten better pictures of the lemurs! But I had to use the digital zoom so the quality is so poor. Oh well next time.
Some pictures were taken with the Kodak and some with the Nikon. Can you tell which is which?

Rainy Days

Karen and I went kayaking at Deer Lake with a group of my friends and her friends. She's been planning this for a month now BUT it turned out to be a rainy day. Crazy as we all are, we went anyways. It was fun albeit cold and wet. I doubled with Annie. She needs to build some upper body muscle. I paddled most of the time. Heehee. I'd be like
- "What's that?!"
- "Nothing it's just a log" -Annie
- "Let's go investigate it!"
- "Noooo, it's a snake!"
- "Really?! Let's go see it!"
- "NOOOOOO"
Heheh. I'm always wanting to go near the edges of the lake and investigate things but Annie prefers to stay in the middle I think. LOL.
We'll go again when it's sunny next time.
After Karen and I went to see Deep Sea 3D. It was pretty good. There was this little shrimp/lobster thing that looks so cute! I liked its colours too. But I forgot what it is called.
Johnny Depp's voice is smexy.

Days Worth Remembering
After dinner, we celebrated my birthday with a mango cake. Even Sunny had some. LOL.
Dreams
The night before:
There was some sort of Mad Hatter (Martin Short of all people) and I was with him in this wierd building that I don't remember about. But we had a map and if we say "Find Wonka" it would show the path through the building to where Willy Wonka was. So we followed it and Wonka (Johnny Depp of course) was in a stairwell. And we talked a bit. And the next day Wonka and I were together and waiting for the Hatter but he was late and Wonka suggested we leave without him. LOL. Weird. I think there were more parts to it but I forget everything when I wake up.
Last night:
I dreamt of large floating fetuses. XD
There was this rich old guy that owned a company that did some kind of cloning/bioengineering stuff. And they made this "clone" and it was a floating embryo. And it grew into a floating fetus. And it was big like a normal person size. They were doing experiments on it. And I think I was with some kind of opposition group. They said that the fetus had not was not "alive" like not like us. No cognitive thought or something. But we discovered it did. And we were pulling it along the air, running from the security, and I was hiding with it when the fetus grew into a person. It was a girl (young adult). And my teammate took her out of the building while I stalled the security personnel. But they KNEW my name! And they said they knew I skipped school and stuff and some other bizarre stuff. And suddenly I'm outside on the beach outside the building we were in. The girl apparently grew wings and was flying about. And the old man was just outside the entrance and she flew to him and called him "father" but the she'd shirk back when he tried to touch her (because of the experiments they did on her as a fetus I guess) and then I think the opposition took her away. And I woke up.
I'm messed up.

Birthday
I don't know if I can be able to do co-op. I might have too many credits already. I have to go see the advisor to plan my courses accordingly.
Anyways! Enough with the boo-hoo. *Feathers-of-Love drew me the most beautifullest picture one could ever receive on one's birthday. Go see it! [link] ^____^
Winnie invited me to go see a premier of Mission Impossible 3 with her. It was pretty good, I guess. Some lines were corny though. And the girl? Katie Holmes, that's all you need to know.

The Season is Over
The Canucks may not have got into the playoffs but they did end on a high note and won their last game in overtime. And the trio all scored in this game too! I hope everyone comes back next year. I'd sure hate to see some of the players be traded off. Well one can hope. Til next year Canucks.

Phew! I've just finished 3 finals in the last 3 days. I'm so tired of studying. And I probably didn't do too well either. Well, at least I can finally rest a bit. My next final is on the 21st. Matrix algebra then computer science on the 24th. Then I'm finally free!!!

In other news, I've been selected to be the Golden Key webmaster for 2006/07! Yay! Winnie and Vicki helped me with my interview. (THANK YOU!) I was the only candidate though. Hahah. It would have been sad if I didn't get it. I have so many plans to vamp up and completely redo their site. It's hideous right now. --->http://www.ubcgoldenkey.org/ You'd think you'd expect better for university as prestigous as UBC. I wonder who designed it?
I'll take a before-and-after screenshot after I finish the new site design. ^__^ I hope I live up to their expectations. I kind of gave them the impression that I am the best web designer in the world.... But I'm not... -_-; I've only made ONE crappy site about cats in highschool that's not uploaded on the web and an unfinished personal/art site that floating around on geocities since I don't like the design anymore.
Well it's very late right now. And I've got to finish my assignments tomorrow. See ya.

Goodbye Bauer Rink!
It was the last day of skating at Thunderbird. They are going to demolish it soon to make the new centre for the 2010 Olympic games. It's sad since I've only started stating there like 3 weeks ago. I went with Winnie today. We were singing songs and admiring the people who could do jumps and turns. Then after we wrote on the wall where some other people wrote goodbye messages. Making their mark before the building is torn down I guess. Heehee a little boy thought we were vandalizing the wall. Little does he know that it doesn't matter anymore. Bauer Rink will be gone soon.
Now where will I go now? Hmm maybe I should start swimming.
After I wanted to go to Petcetera. Just to browse around, I guess. I wasn't planning to buy anything. I cohersed Winnie to come along with me. Heehee. I checked out the fish I wanted. But the Rupert Petcetera didn't have any plants for sale. Well, a few but those were like the left overs!
They had a tank of mice though! Aww! They were so cute! Such small little darlings with big ears. I wanted a brown and white one. Ah but I have George and Lenny already. And Ma forbids I bring any more home.
I'll stick with fish. At least she can't complain about invisible non-existant fleas. ;P

I got my math 221 midterm back today and I got such a low mark! I didn't fail that's good news and I did better than on the first midterm but argh! I studied so hard for it and all I have to show for it is this low low mark. >:(
I'm so sleepy and hungry right now.

I was giving out movie tickets to a premier tonight and I managed to give one to a friend and the other to a guy that sat next to me on the bus. He was very happy. Said it couldn't have come at a better time since he has nothing to do tonight and he owes someone a movie but he's short on cash. :)
I feel really good. I made someone's day happier and that makes me feel very good.
He was cute btw. ;D

I spent the day playing the Sims2 that I borrowed from the library when I should have been doing my lab report. It's pretty fun but my people grow old too fast! And they confiscated my babies! :(
Soon soon. Woohoo. XDDD

Oh well back to programming.
Haven't been drawing much. I've been so busy. I managed to finish my math homework ahead of time though. So proud of myself. Heheh.
Tomorrow I'm going to some Microsoft Develop Mental workshop or something like that. I'm pretty psyched about it.
Tuesday, February 28, 2006
I went skating on Friday with Karen and Winnie and them. It was time to test out my new skates! I considered not going and I probably shouldn't have given that I probably did pooring on my biochem midterm today. But it was fun and I would have proably regretted not going.
When I first stepped on the ice it was so slippery! I didn't remember it being so slippery. I had to use some cones and move along the sideboards. But that gave me a chance to relearn how to stop. XDDD It was ok after when the ice was more "used" more friction I guess. Hahah I tried to do some spins but I'd always fall or lose my balance. I bruised my knee but that's ok. I like bruises.
Heehee it was funny because I ended up marrying Michelle (she proposed) and then divorcing her and then running off with the lawyer (Vicki). I wanted Michelle's mittens when she wouldn't give them to me I declared I was pregnant and turns out she's a GIRL! Oh the scandal! Hehehe it was just like a soap opera. And it probably has been done before. Ah but I wouldn't know. I don't watch soaps.

Sigh. I have a math midterm on wed and biochem on next monday but I'm so not ready for either. Then the second round of midterms is about to begin. When will it all end?!
And the microbi lab I have to read is so long.

Anyhoo. I wasted another day today. I went to the aquarium in the morning with Karen. They are nothing there now! The lionfish are gone and the frogs are blocked off because of the renovations. But I took some pics while I was there. With the Flower of Delirium! It is another project I'm starting something like Monkey Monkey I guess. People think we're crazy now. Taking pictures with a flower.
We also went to the post office and we bought a lot of day of issue envelopes. They are so pretty but so expensive! Haha but Karen said consider it an investment.
Later on we ate lunch at the Cactus Club. I had some pasta and Karen had a Teriyaki chicken rice bowl. I'm so full. It was a 3:00 lunch! Oy. And we had Calamari too. Mmm it was so good.

I did a Valintine picture of salukis too. On the bus. Coloured it yesterday. I'm thinking to entering it into a contest at DA.
Eee so it's reading break! An entire week off...to study. Yep I've got so much to do. Math and biochemistry to study for. I've failed both compsci and matrix algebra midterms so I must do waaay better on the next ones. Bleh I hate math.

My grades aren't high enough anymore either. I've sort of lost all motivation for school. It isn't just a sudden thing. I've noticed this since high school. I'd slack off but I still did moderately well so I let myself slide some more.
Maybe it's because I don't have any optimistic views of the future. I just want a job where I'm told what to do. I don't care if it's monotonous. I just don't care. Why am I taking microbiology? I can't see myself ever working in a lab. Especially not as a career. How about computer science? I'm kidding myself. Sure I like it. But I'm not good at math. And I'm definately not a very good programmer. Still I plunge forward. Dragging more likely and I'm digging my heels in too.
See this type of attitude is not what a real doctor should be. There are more deserving people than me and the interviewers would know it. I can't even communicate very effectively. I stutter when asked a question. I take forever to think of a decent answer to simple questions about MY OWN experience. My mind is all muddled and I don't know what to do about it.
I know I'm letting my mom and my grandpa down. It tears me up inside. Days like these I want to just lay down, rest and never get up again.
Sunday, February 05, 2006
Well I should start studying for the MICB323 midterm. At least read over the labs. After this midterm I won't have any more until after the reading break. Hopefully I will be able to contribute a lot more to Iso.
Woo! I hope they open soon!

I cleaned G/L's tank finally. Heehee they were living in garbage. Literally. I dumped my starbucks frap cup in so they'd eat the whip cream and Karen dumped her pocky boxes in, which they chewed up.

I've been wasting too much time again. I've been playing a trial version of Fish Tycoon and it's so addicting! Now Karen's playing it too! And my trial version's over :(
The pic is a concept sketch of how Chasm and Aurora would look older. I wanted them to look a little bit deer-like than normal sheep.

You'd turn into a lone wolf! Like a lone wolf you
can coup perfectly well by yourself and do not
feel the need for others company. However like
a wolf you were once part of a pack and you can
tolerate and get along okay with people when
met with them. You are protective and loyal to
the close friends you have but, will always be
a true loner at heart
What animal would you turn into?
