Took the family out to Monk McQueens for our first Dine Out Vancouver dinner of the year last Saturday. There was a wedding banquet happening at the same time so all the street parking was gone! We had to suck it up and pay the $8 valet parking in the front of the restaurant.
We were given a complimentary baguette bread basket to start - fresh from the oven.
Buck-a-shuck was also available so I tried one of each of the oysters available: Pacific Rim, Summer Breeze(?) and some other one I don't remember the name of. I liked the Pacific Rim one the best. It is the smallest one.
For appetizer, I tried the roasted parsnip & duck veloute
Spring Lamb Chop & Pot Pie |
Cedar Jelly Glazed Roasted Sockeye Salmon |
Chocolate brownie creme brule |
All in all a great meal and we were all stuffed in the end! Here is their full $28 Dine Out menu:
ive also been to monks ( 2 times) during dine out and i absolutely loved it. i must honestly say they must have a brand new chef or a different direction coz last years dine out was nothing special.
ReplyDeleteIt was really delicious. Which dishes did you try?
ReplyDeleteI might have to go back there soon since they have the buck-a-shuck oysters on until March. P=
Just came back from a great meal at Monk McQueens at 7:00pm Saturday night. The restaurant's ambience was excellent, with stunning false creek and marinaside views. Only drawback, the service. It was mediocre at best. When our server arrived, we were not formally greeted and because of the lack of a proper greeting, I mistook him for being our bus server. Our food service was very slow too. The heat lamp outside was broken too. Tables in our server's section did not receive evening table candles like the other patio sections. So, we had to ask him to bring one our way too. Anyways, he lacked interpersonal, personal touch communication skills with our table. I would give 3/5 for service. 4/5 for food. 5/5 for views. Cheers.
