Indulge n' Dance

Indulge n’ Dance was dessert dance party featuring some of Vancouver's up-and-coming pastry makers and took place on Saturday, April 14 at the W2 Media Cafe and Performance Centre at the Woodward's Building in Gastown.

After finding out about it while entering a contest, I got convinced that I had to go! I didn't bring my DSLR since I had planned to dance a bit and it would have been hard carrying such a big camera but I wish I did there were so many pretty treats there! I went with my friend E. who decided to go at the last minute so had to pay $22 at the door as opposed to the $15 that I paid in advance online with a discount code. We thought that it was quite expensive. =(

When we arrived, we tried a little sourdough whole wheat croissant. It was ok, nothing to brag about. I thought it didn't have a lot of taste.

There was a complimentary coffee bar open serving caffeine and caffeine-free drinks: Shoot the Moon (which was a shot of hot chocolate with espresso), 8oz Mexican Drinking Chocolate, 8oz Cardamom Rose Latte and Double Espresso. I tried the Mexican Drinking Chocolate and I loved it! Mmm hot chocolate.

The main event was downstairs and when we finally headed down, the party was already in motion.

There were some tables there and each had a pretty centerpiece surrounded by tea candles.

A twitter wall was rotating tweet made by the party-goers. As you can see #indulgendance was the most popular and @kimberlyshow (creator of the maple bacon cake pop) is in second.

We headed to the Yelp table first because we wanted to make some candy necklaces that we heard about on twitter. haha.
The bulk of the necklace is actually Frootloops not candy! :( But we got two sour keys for the centre of the necklace.

On to the desserts!

Kimberley Estrada, owner of Some Kind of Wonderful with her maple bacon cake pop display.

The vanilla buttermilk cake pop coated in white Belgium chocolate & candied maple bacon is SO DELICIOUS. My friend thought it was too sweet but I loved it. The cake was moist and not too compact and the bacon is just the right touch to offset the sweetness! This cake pop had won the Best Dessert Presentation prior to the event and at the end of the event, it also won Best in Show! Well done!

The sassy owner  of Guava Jelly Cupcakes, Zandra. ;)

Pina colada cupcake: pineapple cake, coconut custard, pineapple cream cheese icing. Mmm.

I heard amazing things about these Chocolate ganache tarts by Yummy Workshop. They were the runner up for Best in Show! Look how cute they are!

Yummy treats! After eating our desserts, it was time to dance! The desserts were delicious and the beats from the 80s/90s were awesome. It was a great and deliciously fun event put on by Social Bites. Watch out for their new dining events by signing up for their mailing list.
