First Dine Out of this year was at Yaletown Brewing Co. The menu was decent and K had a giftcard to use there so why not?
This place is where a lot of people come to watch the hockey game when it is on. They also seem to have a strong dislike for the Toronto Leafs as evidenced by the "Leafs suck" shirts that the servers have on and also in tiny words on the back of the menu. Hahah.
I started with the wild salmon chowder, which was very flavourful and delicious. Just a tad saltier than I would like but still delicious.
For my entree, I went with the Portabello Sandwich, which was made up of TWO portobello mushrooms. It was delicious and had great flavour and the only issue I had with it was that the cheese inside was only partially melted as you can see from the photo. I loved the thick cut fries that come with it. You can also choose to sub with a salad instead.
I appreciated the giant portion of vanilla ice cream for dessert. This one as the specks in it! Mmm so good! The biscotti was really hard and crunchy.
For some reason, they gave everyone an extra cotton candy at the end! LOL mmm sugar.
The meal was satisfying, not sure if it's worth $28, but definitely more than $18 though. I was really glad that the burger came with two portobello mushrooms rather than just one!
Here's the $28 Dine Out Menu:
